Chandelier

Okay, I've been aching to share this with you all but have had to wait until my project was completed and hung. I have refurbished a chandelier. It is now complete and hung as a gift to my mother in her dining room.

Firstly however, before I go any further... allow me to show you some chandeliers that I shopped out on a discount site online... and share their prices.

This one.... $262.00

This one $368.00....

and finally:

$542.99

Now I am going to share my project (which ran me about $80.00) with you all from beginning to end...

So, first start with a chandelier found in a resale store for $30.00

Then, paint it "Antique White"

Next, purchase some swag crystals (real ones because fake just will not do) online for $20.00 for 13 yards and 43 prism crystals (again real... fake not allowed on this chandelier) for $17.00 .

Pre-arrange them on your chandelier before attaching them permanently with some jewelry glue.

Once you've glued them find your handy-man father to cut out any links you don't need from the chain.

Then again, have your handy-man father hang and wire the chandelier from the ceiling centered above your dining room table.

.... Thank you so much daddy.....

Now finally, stand back and enjoy your finished product!

Ya'll.... just so you know- I'm working on some more :) I'll be showing them soon enough and when I do... they're going to be for sale!

Thank you very much laxsupermom :)
I can't help but do things such as this for my mother because we both have the same style and it pleases me almost if not more than it pleases her lol.

Kathleen, I hope that you'll find one at your local Goodwill tomorrow :)

Well I'll be darned if I don't have that same light bought at a yard sale for 10.00. The crazy part, I have been dreaming of a chandelier for as long as I can remember. NOW I CAN HAVE ONE!

WOW! It looks fabulous! Chandies can be so pricey. Way to find a diamond in the rough.

Every step you took in this makeover is perfection! It is so elegant, yet still has shabby appeal.

Thanks for linking up to "Meet Me On Monday".

Beautiful! Saw this over at the new party Meet Me On Monday. I'd love to know where you bought the crystals, that's a great price.

Hey! I found your blog through the lighting link party and I'm in love!! I've got my chandy painted and ready to be hung- but not before I dress her up in jewels. I found a few real crystals at an antique flea market, but not nearly enough- where did you find yours? I've searched and searched!
GREAT job on this project!! I'm following now :)

Hannah McConnell said...

Hello Anne and piacrook... I'm sad to say they were EBAY finds... But, there could very possibly be several more from the same seller on Ebay... the seller goes to real estate sales and puts the crystals on Ebay.

piacrook said...

Any possibility you might share the ebay sellers name? PiaCrook@me.com
Pretty please??? :)
